Lesley Puryear, LMSW
Lesley Puryear became the New York State Opioid Treatment Authority (SOTA), and the Director of the Bureau of Opioid Treatment for the New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS) in January 2022.
Prior to becoming the SOTA for New York State, Lesley has served OASAS since 2014 with extensive knowledge in Regional Operations (as Regional Coordinator for the New York City region, and as program manager for the Long Island region). Before joining OASAS, Lesley worked as a clinical director for two residential substance use disorder treatment providers, as well having as operational program management oversight and direct patient care experience across a span of 14 year. Lesley also has a complementary background in marketing and special events. In her role as the SOTA, Lesley has represented New York State on a national level and has advocated for the expansion of patient-centered, evidence-based care, reduction of stigma, and innovative programming for the people OASAS serves across New York State to help combat the Opioid Crisis.
A native of New York City, Lesley lives in Great Neck (Nassau County), NY. Lesley holds an LMSW, and graduated from Stony Brook University’s School of Social Welfare.
