Doctor of Nursing Practice, Addiction Medicine Specialist
Community Health Resources
Enfield, Connecticut
Dr. Brittania Liebla is a doctorate-prepared APRN specializing in critical care and addiction medicine. Currently serving as the Addiction Medicine Specialist and Senior APRN for Community Health Resources (CHR), she leads multidisciplinary teams in providing high-quality addiction treatment to patients with various substance use disorders in an array of settings. This includes overseeing the outpatient methadone program and outpatient addiction medicine consultation service in multiple CHR locations throughout Connecticut. She was designated as the primary medical provider during the integration and expansion of opioid treatment programs within correctional facilities throughout the state. Passionate about the progression of the field of addiction medicine and reducing the stigma attached to addiction, she provides education for medical, nursing, clinician, and correctional staff on topics relevant to substance use disorders and harm reduction. Relying heavily on a harm reduction philosophy and integrated care approach, she initiated the state’s first harm reduction supply and needle exchange embedded within an OTP. She has coordinated New England’s first pilot program to provide field-initiated buprenorphine by EMS personnel to patients revived by naloxone post-opioid overdose. She now collaborates with surrounding towns to implement this protocol, and supports programs as the community partner for same-day or next-day follow-up. Dr. Liebla is a member of the American Society of Addiction Medicine, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and is appointed a Doctoral Student Advisor at the University of Connecticut School of Nursing.
