Presentation Summary: Providing comprehensive opioid treatment programming to incarcerated individuals with Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) both pre and post release yield positive outcomes. Utilizing recovery support navigation services that supports patients throughout their transition to the community, yields positive outcomes including connecting them to community-based treatment and reducing risk for overdose in the post release period.

Learning Objectives:

At the completion of this activity, participants will:
  • Discuss the importance of providing comprehensive wrap around services to incarcerated individuals pre and post release.
  • Describe the investment in treating incarcerated individuals with medication for Opioid Use Disorder and providing wrap around services to successfully connect patients with community-based treatment, post release.
  • Identify key components to reentry planning that target successful transition from incarceration to the community, reducing risk for destabilization and/or overdose.
