Presentation Summary: Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) is highly effective in addressing the opioid epidemic, but rural areas face challenges due to stigma. Stigma in these communities discourages treatment-seeking, hinders access to quality care, and affects providers' availability. Addressing this stigma is crucial to expand MOUD access, reduce opioid misuse, and prevent overdoses. The Opioid Response Network (ORN) provides technical assistance in this regard. By analyzing ORN data, we can assess where stigma-related TA in rural areas is needed and gauge its impact on attitudes, MOUD implementation, and more, aiming to break down barriers to treatment and support recovery.
Learning Objectives:
At the completion of this activity, participants will:
Determine what TA support ORN can provide around stigma and MOUD implementation in rural settings
Summarize the impact of stigma on patient outcomes
Recognize common training techniques and tools to address stigma.
